George Whiteford

George Whiteford has owned and run R Welsh & Son for 16 years after leaving the family farm to turn his passion for country sports into a living.

George has over 30 years shooting experience which include representing Scotland as a teenager in the Scottish Tetrathlon Team and achieving a bronze medal in pistol and rifle shooting on the British and European Circuit. George is also an experienced game shot and is a fully accredited Clay Pigeon Shooting Association coach.

George has long established relationships with the Borders’ shooting and fishing fraternity, providing a knowledge base that supports the entire spectrum of country pursuits from the Sporting Estates to the enthusiastic beginner.

In addition he is an experienced and qualified gunsmith who is able to service and complete most repairs on shotguns, rifles and air rifles ‘in-house’.

George's attention to detail, extensive knowledge and passion for the countryside ensures that all customers are catered for and return again and again – often dealing with 3 generations in a family!
